Top Things To Consider Before Buying A Garden Room

As the popularity of garden rooms increases and more and more homeowners are choosing this as an alternative to moving house by creating extra space, there are a number of things you should consider before purchasing a garden room.

Budget
Buying a garden room can be an expensive purchase depending on the size, design and finishes you have in mind. Investing in a good quality building which will last in excess of 20 years (if correctly maintained and looked after) will be worth the investment. At PS Contracts we make it easier for you to create your dream space by offering a number of finance packages to suit all budgets, allowing you to Buy Now and Pay Later.

There are a number of different building systems used in garden room construction, however the most innovative and commonly used is the modular SIPs construction method which provides a very efficient building system with quick assembly. Costs will vary depending on the construction method used.

Space
Depending on how much space you have available in your garden will determine the size of building that is most practical given your available space, anything too big will dominate your garden.

Size
All garden rooms are fully customisable to suit your exact requirements creating a space to relax and unwind. In the first instance its best to think about what the building will be used for to help you visualise the space you might need allowing you to work with a designer to create CAD drawings.  Our range includes five architecturally designed standard pods that can be tailored to best suit your needs whilst making optimum use of your environment.

Self Build or Full Turnkey
Are you wanting to construct your own garden room with a SIPs kit or a full turnkey solution where your supplier handles everything, which typically includes site clearance and prep, installation of garden room plus internal decoration of the room and connection of the electrics to the mains supply, however it always best to ask your chosen supplier what is included in their full turnkey packages as it can vary from supplier to supplier.  We provide customers a choice of self build or full turnkey.

Planning Permission
In certain circumstances planning permission is required by Law. Positioning restrictions may apply and properties located on heritage or listed sites will need to gain advice from the local planning authority. All our garden rooms have been designed within the allowed dimensions for domestic dwellings meaning no planning permission is required.
